Piano Leisure Learning for Adults

It is never too old to learn the piano. Whether you are just interested in playing your favourite tune, or is more inclined to playing music from your favourite Korean or Japanese drama. Some adults prefer jazz music or to play piano pieces from their favourite musicals such as Phantom of the opera and Les Misérables.  Other adults that I have taught prefer a mixture of popular pieces and classical piano music.  It is often up to the student to suggest a repertoire of pieces that interest them and to set their goals for learning the piano.  As a classical pianist myself, I also like to introduce more well-known classical piano pieces for the more adventurous adults who desire playing more challenging pieces that communicate very subtle but deep emotions within.

For some adults learning music is soothing to their stressful career. Many classical music naturally relaxes you and makes you concentrate better at your work. Recent studies have also suggested that classical music has a role in stimulating brain activity and positively engages the mind.  For someone who wishes to maintain healthy and optimal brain functioning throughout adulthood and well into their senior years, learning piano classical music can be a very suitable choice.

I hope that as a piano teacher, adults and senior piano students who take lessons from me can enjoy the pleasure of playing piano music and find it a rewarding experience for them.
